Adding hyperlink auto-preview to your web site

January 8, 2007

It’s very rare to come such an excellent piece of software such as Snap (how much did they pay for that URL?). It’s so easy to use by inserting a small script on your web page like Google Adsense. When a mouse is hovered over a hyperlink, you see a small preview of the hyperlinked page without going to it. Of course, this only works for off-site links and doesn’t work on Google Adsense links.

This is such a useful tool and, as with Winsnap, I would be quite happy to delve into my non too deep pockets to pay real money for it. Now I don’t say that too often!

Winsnap, a really elegant screen capture utility

January 8, 2007

Winsnap is a really fabulous piece of share ware that has saved me many hours of fiddling around creating images for web site.

To quote their website: “WinSnap is a small enhancement utility for taking and editing screenshots. It can easily capture windows of non-rectangular form with the background of your choice, automatically perform simple canvas transformations and coloring effects, add professional smoothing shadows in Photoshop style and more.

What it means for me is that I can capture rounded-edge windows, areas and drop down menus and automatically add a shadow on an appropriate background saving me many hours of trying to get Photoshop under control.

I don’t know how I’ve managed for the last ten years without it!
